CONVENTIONAL STRUCTURES

Technology description

Conventional flexible packaging structures are widely used formats designed to contain, protect, and present products across different industries. Their design allows the package to be adapted to the product type, weight, filling process, barrier requirements, sealing, distribution, and display.

This category includes formats such as folded bottom, pinch bottom, and 3-side-seal bags, each with specific advantages depending on the application. These packages can be manufactured with laminated or coextruded structures, offering different levels of resistance, barrier, and visual presentation.

Their main value lies in versatility, production efficiency, and adaptability to dry products, granules, powders, foods, pet food, industrial products, personal care, construction, and other consumer or professional applications.

Included formats

Folded bottom

The folded bottom format helps improve the package’s internal volume and supports better product presentation. It is useful for products that require greater internal space, moderate stability, and efficient filling.

It can be used for applications such as dry foods, grains, powders, construction products, pet food, ingredients, and consumer products.

Pinch Bottom

The pinch bottom is a format designed for products that require reliable closure, resistance, and a robust presentation.

Its bottom and sealing system allows it to handle products with greater weight or volume, especially in industrial, food, or construction applications.

It is suitable for powders, mixes, granular products, flours, ingredients, non aggressive chemicals, and products requiring efficient filling and strong logistics resistance.

3-side-seal bag

The 3-side-seal bag is a flat, practical, and efficient format, manufactured with side seals and top/bottom seals. It is a versatile solution for small or medium presentations, samples, portions, foods, supplements, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, or applications where hermeticity and strong presentation are required.
It can be adapted to transparent, printed, metallized, or high-barrier structures.

Structure and materials

Conventional structures can be manufactured with different material combinations, according to the performance required by the product

Structures may include materials such as:

• Polyethylene, PE
• Polypropylene, PP
• Polyester, PET
• Polyamide / Nylon, PA
• EVOH for oxygen barrier
• Metallized films for light, aroma, and oxygen barrier
• CPP for applications requiring higher thermal resistance
• Paper or cellulose-based materials, depending on the application
• Inks, adhesives, and varnishes compatible with the final product.

Structures can be developed for:

• Moisture barrier
• Oxygen barrier
• Light barrier
• Grease or aroma resistance
• Puncture resistance
• Efficient heat sealing
• High mechanical resistance
• Printed or transparent presentation
• Recyclable or monomaterial formats, depending on technical feasibility.

Key performance benefits

  • High versatility for different products
    and industries

  • Good efficiency in filling and sealing processes

  • Ability to adapt the structure to product weight and behavior
  • Protection against moisture, oxygen, light, aroma, or grease, as needed

  • Strong performance in storage, transportation, and display
  • Lower weight compared to rigid packaging

  • Logistics space optimization

  • Broad printable surface for brand communication

  • Compatibility with different sealing systems

 • Coffee
 • Grains and seeds
• Cereals
• Flours and powder mixes
• Food supplements
 • Pet food
• Animal feed • Frozen products  • Industrial ingredients • Construction products in powder or granular form
• Personal care
 • Household products
 • Pharmaceutical or nutraceutical products
 • Commercial samples or individual portions

Blue Pack Advantage

Blue Pack Solutions develops conventional flexible packaging structures adapted to each customer’s product, process, and market.

Our approach makes it possible to select the most suitable format — folded bottom, pinch bottom, or 3-side-seal — considering resistance, barrier, sealing, filling efficiency, visual presentation, shelf life, and sustainability goals.

More than choosing a bag, we design a technical solution that responds to the product’s real behavior during production, distribution, storage, and display. Fichas técnicas 2026.
